Power outage of Intra Asia cable affects Vietnam Internet service
With current capacity and timely solutions, the customers can still use the service with peace of mind, even during peak hours.
The power interruption of Intra Asia (IA) affects Viettel Internet connection to Singapore, Hong Kong and the US, reducing bandwith about 20% on January 12, according to the International Ocean Cable Management Board.
The original cause was determined by the power supply fault for the device at the landing station in Singapore. It is still unknown when the power supply is resumed.
The Vietnamese network operators have re-routed the connection for customers through other sea cable lines such as AAG, APG, AAE-1 and mainland routes through China.
Besides, Viettel has added 100Gbps for AAE-1 cable and coordinated with partners to increase resources for the remaining directions to ensure connection quality for customers using international connection channel.
With current capacity and timely solutions, the customers can still use the service with peace of mind, even during peak hours. International Internet access, especially Google, Facebook or Youtube is still guaranteed.
