On the occasion of new year, State President Truong Tan Sang visited several hi-tech agricultural farms in the new-style rural district of Don Duong and Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province.
In the new-style rural district of Don Duong bordering Da Lat City, he learned about seedling, flower and vegetable farming models in Lac Lam commune and visited a milch cow farm in Lac Xuan commune.

The President praised efforts made by local farmers in applying high technologies to increase productivity, urging them to regularly exchange information for mutual development, especially after the ASEAN Community is officially formed.
As one of the largest vegetable cultivation areas nationwide, Don Duong is the first district in the Central Highlands recognised as a new-style rural area and one of the first 10 districts nationwide to earn the status.
Visiting Rung Hoa Da Lat Company, one of Lam Dong’s two largest flower exporters, in Da Lat city, the State leader suggested the company import and cross-breed new varieties to increase their commercial values.

The farm produce export accounts for 80 percent of the province’s total. The project would focus on vegetables, flowers, fruits, mushrooms, fish and shrimp. The project is expected to add more value to farm produce, especially those produced with hi-technology and win trust among consumers. A hi-tech agricultural club was also unveiled at the event. It aims to exchange information and attract investment in the high-tech agricultural sector.
President highly appreciated efforts of Lam Dong Province to promote the application of technology in agricultural production.
Currently, the province of Lam Dong has 43.084ha of land in the direction of high-tech applications, accounting for 16.4% of of the total cultivation area; tech vegetable production reached 500 million revenue / ha / year; flower production reached an average turnover of 1.2 billion VND / ha / year; agricultural export turnover accounts for 80% of the province's exports.
