The president asks other top leaders to keep a close watch on the country`s situation and he himself maintains firm statements on anti-corruption.
Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has been back to office after a month of absence from media due to illness.
On May 14, the president chaired a meeting of the highest officials including Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Executive Secretary of the Party Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, and Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office Nguyen Van Nen.
The meeting focused on the agenda in May and beyond.
It highlighted the preparations for the 10th plenum of the Party Central Committee which will start on May 16.
The top leaders also discussed the preparations for the 13th Party Congress, which is slated for January 2021.
At the meeting, the party chief asked the other leaders to keep a close watch on the country’s situation to ensure smooth movements of multisided operations embracing socio-economics, security, national defense, foreign relations, Party’s building, and social welfare.
Notably, the president emphasized the continuity of fights against corruption, noting that top bodies need to keep surveillance on anti-corruption without any indifference.
President Nguyen Phu Trong was absent from work and state activities after a working trip to the southern province of Kien Giang on April 13-14.
Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after that said the president was not fine due to “lots of work” and “harsh weather”.
