Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Vietnam-Denmark relations have been growing actively in various fields over years, particularly since the two countries established a strategic partnership in the field of climate change, energy, environment and green growth in November 2011 and a comprehensive partnership in 2013.

He thanked the Danish government for providing official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam over the past years, which has been invested effectively in the country’s priority areas, including poverty reduction, public administration, administrative reform, response to climate change and environment.

The Vietnamese Government is implementing a lot of policies to facilitate long-term operations of foreign enterprises in Vietnam, including those from Denmark, he stated. The PM noted that the bilateral trade of 500 million USD is at a modest level compared with the two sides’ potential. He hoped both countries will intensify cooperation in economics, trade, investment, green growth, education, hi-tech agriculture and ship building. The PM also wished the Danish ambassador a successful and fruitful working term in Vietnam.

Ambassador Charlotte Laur Sen voiced her pleasure at the constant development of the Viet Nam-Denmark relations across all fields. There are currently over 135 Danish companies operating in Viet Nam, which symbolizes the huge potential for bilateral cooperation, she said.

2016 marks an important milestone as the two countries will celebrate the 45 years of bilateral diplomatic ties, the guest noted, adding that both sides will organize an array of joint activities to mark the event in both Denmark and Vietnam.

She informed the host that Danish Foreign Minister would pay a working visit to Viet Nam this October, during which trade cooperation would be high on the agenda. Ambassador Charlotte Laur Sen pledged to do her utmost in the new position to facilitate trade and investment cooperation between the two nations.

The Danish Ambassador expressed her delight at the constant development of the bilateral relations in numerous fields. She informed the host that the Danish Foreign Minister will visit Vietnam in this October, during which the minister wants to seek more measures to step trade cooperation. She also affirmed to do her utmost to boost trade and investment ties between the two countries.

Bilateral ties have been gradually shifting from development cooperation into partnership, he said, affirming that the Vietnamese government has been implementing numerous incentives to create favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including Danish companies, to do long-term and effective business in Vietnam.

As two-way trade of roughly US$500 million remains modest compared to the potential of both countries, PM Phuc expressed his wish that the two sides would further accelerate cooperation in economics, trade and investment, as well as in other areas including green growth, education, training, high-tech agriculture and shipbuilding.
