PM Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed with the proposal to build a general entertainment complex, including a casino, in Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang.
PM Dung tasked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to work with the Kien Giang Provincial People’s Committee and relevant agencies to prepare the project and report to the PM for consideration after the Government issues a decree on the casino business.
Phu Quoc Island is located in the western waters of Viet Nam, in the center of the Southeast Asia region and on the Viet Nam-Cambodia-Thailand maritime economic belt.
The 589.23 square kilometer island has a population of 96,940 and 10 administrative units. It is a special economic and administrative region, a national and international recreational, resort and ecological tourism center, an important transportation hub and a scientific and technological center. The island also plays an important role in national defense and security.
