Quang Ninh province and National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines strengthen mutual promotion and work on building provincial tourism products.
On January 22, the central city of Quang Ninh and Vietnam Airlines signed an agreement to co-operate in tourism, trade, and investment promotion. Under the deal, Quang Ninh will prepare facilities and support mechanisms for new air routes from and to Van Don International Airport to lure in more tourists, while introducing local destinations in key markets like the EU, Australia, and Northeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines will expand international and domestic flights to and from Van Don Airport - Quang Ninh in 2018 and the following years on the basis of the market demand and exploitation efficiency, coordinate to implement the tourism promotion plan and Quang Ninh province's investment and sponsor international and national cultural, art and tourism events in the period of 2018-2021.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, said that in the coming time, great opportunities in the development of air transport activities and airline's auxiliary activities will be created in the province of Quang Ninh. The province hopes Vietnam Airlines Corporation to concern and support the research, promotion and expansion of international and domestic flights to and from Van Don Airport in 2018, as well as support the locality to participate in promoting domestic and international tourism and to advertise the destination of Quang Ninh province in the publications of Vietnam Airlines.
For his part, Director-General of Vietnam Airlines Corporation Duong Tri Thanh said that
this cooperation agreement is the next kick to bring Quang Ninh tourism in particular and Vietnam tourism in general to connect to the world and to new position. In addition to the proper implementation of the agreements and the contents stated, Vietnam Airlines will investigate to set up new routes to Cat Bi Airport, Van Don Airport with the airlines in SkyTeam alliance and those in European region. We hope that Quang Ninh's common tourism promotion campaigns between two parties will bring breakthrough and effectiveness in the future. Vietnam Airlines believes that this is win-win cooperation and will help to attract more tourism and investment activities in the province
The corporation has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Quang Ninh province in tourism, trade, and investment promotion activities. Images from the province are showcased at Vietnam Airlines’s offices inside and outside the country and its Heritage magazine.
The number of tourists visiting the northern province of Quang Ninh was estimated to reach 9.87 million in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 18%. International arrivals reached 4.28 million, up 23% against the previous year. Total tourism turnover amounted to more than VND17.88 trillion (US$ 787 million), up 30% over a year earlier, while tax collection from tourism services was over VND2.1 trillion (US$92 million), making up 7.62% of the province’s tax revenue, up 30% on-year, according to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism.
