Over 6.1 million tourist came to the northern province of Quang Ninh in the first nine months of this year, which an increase of 1% year on year, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In September alone, tourist arrivals to the province reached more than 400,000.
This figure includes over 1.7 million foreign visitors, a 5% decrease over a year earlier, however a 6% increase in tourists staying overnight from the previous year brought that number to 3 million. Total tourism turnover hit VND3.87 trillion, up 2% year on year.

The province saw a record number of tourist arrivals with more than 500,000 during the Ha Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week (from April 29 to May 4). Turnover earned from the tourism week posted at more than VND210 billion.
With the view of attracting more travellers during the rest of the year and fulfill the target of welcoming 7,700 tourists for the whole year, Quang Ninh is intensifying promotion activities.
Specifically, the province will focus on activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ha Long Bay being recognized as World Natural Heritage Site (1994-2014) and ensure the building of National Art programs to serve tourists in famous landscapes such as Ha Long Bay and the centre of Ha Long city in November 2014.
