Radiant Hanoi with flags and flowers in celebration of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday

These days, Hanoi's streets are filled with the vibrant red of national flags and adorned with fresh flowers in honor of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19th.

THE HANOI TIMES — On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 -2025), the capital city of Hanoi is resplendently decorated with red flags bearing yellow stars, alongside banners, slogans, and large decorative panels.

Central thoroughfares such as Dien Bien Phu, Hoang Dieu, Phan Dinh Phung, and Thanh Nien are brightly illuminated, reflecting a solemn and respectful atmosphere. This meaningful occasion allows the people of the capital to express their profound respect and heartfelt gratitude to the beloved leader of the nation.

The dignified and radiant ambiance throughout Hanoi’s streets stands as a powerful expression of the people’s enduring reverence for President Ho Chi Minh.

Familiar and iconic images of “Uncle Ho,” symbolizing his enduring revolutionary legacy, are prominently displayed on billboards and digital screens across the city.

One of the most elaborate and solemn decorative focal points is situated at the intersection of two major roads of Lieu Giai and Dao Tan in Ba Dinh District, serving as a centerpiece of the city’s tribute.

Slogans honoring the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh can be seen along many streets, including Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Xa Dan.

Along other prominent roads such as Trang Tien, Hang Bai, and Dien Bien Phu, government offices, organizations, and local residents have uniformly raised the national flag, contributing to a vibrant and sacred atmosphere.

Tree-lined boulevards are further accentuated by commemorative banners and flags.

The Hanoi’s Flag Tower in Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District, historically associated with the August Revolution and President Ho Chi Minh’s leadership, holds special significance during this commemorative period.

In the panorama of Hanoi during the month of May, the thousand-year-old capital of culture presents a splendid and reverent image, gazing with pride and respect toward the man affectionately known as the “Father of the Nation,” whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Vietnamese people.
