On January 12, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to Vietnam, Francis Efeduma.
Congratulating the ambassador on his new tenure in Vietnam, Chairman Chung hopes Francis Efeduma will play role as the positive connector to reinforce the relationship between Hanoi as well as Vietnam with Nigeria.
On this occasion, Nguyen Duc Chung introduced some of Hanoi development situation and master plans in the future. During the past 2017, Hanoi’s GDP reached 8.5 %, with total socialization investment hit record high in seven years. The city welcomed 23.8 million international and domestic arrivals; of which international tourist number hits nearly five million; up 23 % against 2016.
In the period of 2016-2020, Hanoi focuses on three break-through phases including infrastructure development, high quality resources and administration reform.
Highlighting the tremendous potentials in cooperation land of Vietnam and Nigeria, Chairman of Hanoi hopes the ambassador would contribute to develop the city’s tie with Nigerian regions, cities; via exchanging authority staffs and holding investment promotion conferences.
“We have large potentials to exploit in tourism, culture, sport, agriculture”, Chung added.
Delight with warm reception of Hanoi leader, Francis Efeduma showed his impression with Hanoi socio-economic development and asked for the Hanoi support to carry out diplomatic activities successfully in Hanoi.
When it comes to Chung’s suggestion, the ambassador committed to collaborate tightly with the city in mentioned fields. Specifically, the Nigerian embassy in Hanoi would conduct numerous bilateral exchange visit of cultural, sport delegation; as well as agriculture experts…; contributing to expand the tie between Hanoi and other cities, regions of Nigeria, Efeduma said.
