Respecting for international law - prerequisite to maintain sustainable peace
Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bonn, Germany confirmed that the respect for and compliance with the international law is prerequisite to maintain sustainable peace.

Highlighting the importance of multi-lateral and comprehensive approach for the benefits of all sides as the effective method to guarantee peace in a complex world, Deputy PM Minh asked for enhancing international cooperation and upholding the role of the international organizations, especially the United Nations, in dealing with global challenges.
He suggested G20 members take the lead in supporting developing nations to realize sustainable development goals through helping them to improve the capacity to respond to development challenges, particularly climate change, food security and water resource security. Despite limited resources, Vietnam is striving to make contribution to multi-lateral mechanisms, including its participation in peacekeeping operations in Africa.
The Deputy PM underlined the central role of ASEAN in building security environment in the Southeast Asia and the “ASEAN Way”, which is based on sodality and consensus, has proved effective in coping with challenges to the regional peace and stability, including sea-related disputes. He asked the G20 members to continue support the bloc’s central role in the region.
As the host of APEC 2017, Deputy PM Minh affirmed the country’s resolve to promote and connect the agenda of APEC and the G20, especially in such shared areas as sustainable-creative-inclusive growth, climate change adaption, food security and sustainable agriculture.
At the working lunch with the theme "Partnership with Africa", the parties emphasized that the support of African countries to maintain peace, stability and development will contribute significantly to strengthening peaceful environment, stability and development in the world; affirmed the commitment of the G20 to support African countries to promote industrialization, education and training, social security, environmental protection and so on.
