The Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan have been defined as the primary markets of Hanoi’s tourism thanks to their high growth in the number of arrivals to the capital.
Recent years have seen a 50 percent growth in Korean and Japanese travellers to the city, earning the reputation of both big spenders and long-stay customers.
Hanoi is working to capitalise on the Japanese market, which boasts 20 million people travelling abroad each year.

According to Mai Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Hanoi is focusing on developing tourism infrastructure and human resources as well as diversifying products in an effort to better serve visitors.
In 2014, Hanoi welcomed 3 million tourists, a 16 percent increase from 2013.
