Room for cooperation between Hanoi and Canada remains large
Hanoi`s mayor expressed hope that the Canadian diplomat would keep her strong support to reinforce the ties between Hanoi and Canadian localities.
Hanoi can expand its cooperation with Canadian localities in various areas, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung at a meeting with outgoing Canadian Ambassador Ping Kitnikone on August 2.
At the meeting, Chairman Chung congratulated the ambassador on her successful tenure with historic milestones in Vietnam-Canada relations, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Vietnam to attend the APEC Summit as well as Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to Canada to join the Outreach G7 session.
The Hanoi official also spoke highly of the support that Canadian Embassy in Vietnam has given to Hanoi delegations to Canada, as well as Hanoi's development and diplomatic agendas.
Chung expressed hope that the Canadian diplomat would keep her strong support to reinforce the ties between Hanoi and Canadian localities, whatever position she would take charge of after completing her tenure in Vietnam.
“Both sides have room to expand cooperation in tourism, trade-investment, education-training and food processing industry, etc.,” specified Chung.
Agreeing to proposals by the Hanoi leader, Ping Kitnikone also expressed her gratitude to all the supports that Hanoi government offered for the Canadian embassy’s recent activities, especially including the cooperation programs between Vietnam and Canada in environmental protection.
She hoped the municipal authorities would facilitate the anniversary of 45th year establishing Vietnam-Canada relation (1973-2018). She also pledged to keep supporting Vietnam-Canada ties with more effective and practical bilateral cooperation in the time ahead.
