With the economy coming off such a remarkably strong year and Vietnamese per capita incomes on the rise, more families have been booking outward tours for this Lunar New Year (TET) holiday season.
If you haven't booked anything yet, you can almost certainly forget about Europe and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where operators say that demand is at an all-time high.
“Almost all outbound tours to Europe and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been completely sold out,” said Nguyen Cong Hoan, vice director of leading international tourism agency Redtour.
Meanwhile Fiditour has reported that it has sold over 90% of its planned outbound tours and packages are still selling at a brisk pace, while Vietrantour has reported holiday tours have risen 10% over last season.
Travel agents also report that domestic tours to the south-west region have also been in high demand as northerners plan their annual migration south to escape the cold weather. Meanwhile, central and southerners have been curiously heading north.
Particularly tour packages to Trang An, Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Ha Long and Sapa or the central heritage road through Danang, Hue and Hoi An have been popular so far this season.
In addition, HCM City residents have favoured nearby destinations like Phan Thiet, Da Lat, Sa Dec and Dong Thap.
Some new tourism products and services, such as seaplane adventures to Ha Long, Mui Ne and Phan Thiet have been going over big this year, particularly with inbound travellers.
Due to the long holiday, many travellers have booked tours to foreign countries like the EU, US, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Republic of Korea and China and there are still plenty of great promotional packages available.
