Seminar on enhancing Russia-Vietnam relationship

On January 28, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association (RVFA) hosted a seminar to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the two countries diplomatic ties.

Speaking at the event, RVFA President Vladimir Buianov said the establishment of Vietnam-Russian relations 65 years ago on January 30, 1950 was a founding moment: this recognition ensured Vietnam a unique position in Russia. It has also contributed to lasting and fruitful international relations.

Deputy Head of the Asian Department under the Russian Foreign Ministry Gennady Bezdetko in turn said over the past six and one-half decades the two countries have stood side by side both at times of peace and at times of adversity, which has contributed to the development of strong and deep relations.

Russia was one of first countries in the world to recognize the young state of Vietnam and provided much welcomed assistance defeating invaders. Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hung also spoke at the event, delivering a speech, for which he highlighted the significance of the establishment of diplomatic ties and importance of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations established in 2012.

For their part, a number of participating Russian scientists dilated on the milestones in bilateral relations and how they contributed to fortifying the traditional ties between the two nations. They said the relationship between the countries has never been stronger as a result and they look forward to relations flourishing in the future.

Concluding the event, Buianov underscored that the association will actively coordinate with the Vietnam Embassy and relevant agencies to organise a large number of activities to mark the anniversary throughout the year.
