Given the integral role of overseas Vietnamese nationals for the homeland, a number of preferential policies have been devised to facilitate the community’s contributions, stated Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Pham Quang Nghi.
While attending a recent get-together with Vietnamese expatriates at the Embassy in Paris, France, Nghi briefed his compatriots on domestic affairs.
According to him, 2015 marks several important events in Vietnam, including the 85 th Party founding and 70 th national independence anniversaries as well as 40 years since southern liberation and national re-unification. Meanwhile, all-level Party congresses are being held in preparation for next year’s 12th National Party Congress, the party’s biggest meeting that takes place every five years.
He also noted that Vietnam grew 5.98 percent and recorded an export surplus of more than 2 billion USD in 2014.
The Vietnamese senior official has been on a 4-day visit to France, which began on June 20, to foster ties between the communist parties of Vietnam and France as well as between Hanoi and the French localities of Toulouse and Ile-de-France, particularly in the fields of art and culture.
