The working groups on the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tokin and cooperation in less sensitive maritime issues between Vietnam and China convened the seventh round of talks in Hanoi from June 3-4.

The two sides agreed to urge technical experts to discuss specific plans for a joint survey slated for this year as agreed earlier.
About cooperation in less-sensitive areas, they consented to jointly study the management of sea and island environment in the Gulf of Tonkin, and Holocene sediments in Red River Delta and Chang Jiang River Delta. They also agreed to discuss the draft agreement on search and rescue at sea.
On June 4, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of a governmental-level delegation of Vietnam-China territorial border negotiations hosted a reception for Chinese counterparts.
