Trade between Vietnam and India has flourished over the past three years, jumped to US$14 billion in 2018 from US$7.8 billion in 2016, fueled much by their sound friendship.
Outgoing Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish made the statement at a meeting with Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai on June 17.
At the meeting, both sides were delighted at the increasingly developed ties between Vietnam and India as well as the friendship between Hanoi and New Delhi.
The ambassador thanked Hanoi city for its support in strengthening bilateral ties that have gained many achievements during the past time, and proofs of it is the robust exchange of activities and high-level visits of the two countries’ leaders, said the Indian diplomat.
Accordingly, Vietnam and India have reinforced cooperation in the fields of security, national defense, tourism and trade. “Especially when the direct flight is launched, scheduled for October, those cooperation areas would be further bolstered,” Harish said.
The Indian ambassador also showed his admiration for Hanoi’s achievements in development, and thanked the city’s support to cultural activities delivered by the Indian embassy in Hanoi.
For his part, Hai hailed the unceasing development of the Vietnam-India relations. “That political trust and mutual understanding grow between the two countries is among the biggest achievements,” he stressed. “Both sides share the same views on some international issues and support each other at international regional and world forums,” Hai added.

Hai hoped that ambassador Harish will keep contributing to the close and effective India-Vietnam relationship after ending his tenure in Vietnam.
On this occasion, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish invited Hai to visit India, an invitation that Hai gladly accepted.
