Trade between Vietnam and India has flourished over the past three years, jumped to US$14 billion in 2018 from US$7.8 billion in 2016, fueled much by their sound friendship.Outgoing Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish made the statement at a meeting with Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai on June 17.
At the meeting, both sides were delighted at the increasingly developed ties between Vietnam and India as well as the friendship between Hanoi and New Delhi.

Accordingly, Vietnam and India have reinforced cooperation in the fields of security, national defense, tourism and trade. “Especially when the direct flight is launched, scheduled for October, those cooperation areas would be further bolstered,” Harish said.
The Indian ambassador also showed his admiration for Hanoi’s achievements in development, and thanked the city’s support to cultural activities delivered by the Indian embassy in Hanoi.
For his part, Hai hailed the unceasing development of the Vietnam-India relations. “That political trust and mutual understanding grow between the two countries is among the biggest achievements,” he stressed. “Both sides share the same views on some international issues and support each other at international regional and world forums,” Hai added.
Hanoi's leader also stressed the room for further growing the New Delhi – Hanoi ties remains large, and hoped that both sides would continue to speed up cooperation, experience exchange, especially in the areas of India’s strength and Vietnam’s demand such as renewable energy, IT, among others.
He highly appreciated the contribution of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam and Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish to the fruitful bilateral ties.
Hai hoped that ambassador Harish will keep contributing to the close and effective India-Vietnam relationship after ending his tenure in Vietnam.
On this occasion, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish invited Hai to visit India, an invitation that Hai gladly accepted.
