Strengthening cooperation between the two legislative bodies of Belarus and Vietnam

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus National Assembly Anatoly N. Rubinov underlined the need to further cooperation between the two legislative bodies at their meeting in Minsk.

Anatoly Rubinov expressed his pleasure at the vigorous growth of the time-honoured friendship and cooperation between the two nations in recent years, saying Party leader Trong and his senior delegation’s visit will promote bilateral relations, lifting the comprehensive cooperation to new heights.

Trong applauded the remarkable achievements Belarus has achieved in maintaining political stability, boosting socio-economic development, and improving people's living standards and expressed his firm belief that the Belarusian people will gain even greater achievements in the process of national construction and development.

In regard to bilateral relations, both sides agreed that the cooperation and friendship between the two legislatures hold a highly important position in the overall development of the long-term sustainable partnership in all fields between Vietnam and Belarus.

They stressed the necessity to continue the effective implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two NAs signed in April 2009 which is seen as an important legal basis for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the near future.

Host and guest suggested intensifying delegation exchanges at all levels, sharing experience and offering mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums.

Both sides held that the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Parliamentarian Group and the working group of the National Assembly of Belarus on cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam should coordinate more closely to enhance their role in connecting parliamentary partnership activities.

Trong used the occasion to invite leaders of the Belarus National Assembly to visit Vietnam and attend the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) in Hanoi in 2015.
