Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung held a reception for Ambassador of Sweden in Vietnam Pereric Hogberg in the afternoon of March 22.
The cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden has continued to grow, reaching new milestones in trade and economy, with Swedish businesses increasingly interested in the business environment of Vietnam in general, Hanoi in particular, stated the ambassador.
As Hanoi is increasingly focusing on sustainable development goals, the Ambassador informed, in May, 2018, a Swedish Trade delegation composed of businesses in smart sustainable urban development and public transport will visit Vietnam. The visit is expected to include bilateral meetings and workshops to share Swedish experiences in this area. Ambassador Pereric Hogberg expressed his wish that the event would receive support and cooperation from the Hanoi government.
Agreeing with the Ambassador’s proposal, Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung on behalf of the Hanoi government affirmed his willingness to cooperate and facilitate the Swedish Trade delegation’s visit and related activities. Accordingly, Hanoi will co-chair and provide information on Hanoi's development agenda, as well as coordinate the involvement of various ministries in the events within the framework of such visit.
Appreciating the Ambassador's role in developing relations between the two countries, the Mayor of Hanoi looks forward to the Embassy’s continued support for Swedish businesses’ activities in the capital city, included among which may be support for Ikea in the opening of a branch in Hanoi. In addition, Hanoi has a plan to reform public transport which mentions the use of high-quality electric buses from European automakers which comprises Swedish ones.
Also at the reception, the two sides agreed on the coordiantion to organize events marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden in 2019.
