On April 23, Hanoi Vice Mayor Ngo Van Quy received the business delegation led by Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, Pereric Hogberg.
Also participation is Swedish Ambassador to Singapore Hakan Jeverell and Head of Swedish Chamber of Commerce Singapore (SCCS) Jan Stjernstrom.
According to Ambassador Pereric Hogberg, Sweden is the first European country to set diplomatic relation with Vietnam (1969). The nearly-50-year-old tie gained numerous achievement, which the Swedish firm trip this time will positively contribute to reinforce.
The ambassador affirmed that Swedish enterprises are increasingly in hope to cooperate with Vietnam. “Export to Vietnam jumped by 50% last year, paving the way for bilateral trade to grow in the upcoming time”, the Swedish diplomat said, adding that Hanoi city lies among prioritized markets for Swedish firms to deploy cooperation projects.
Another trade delegation from Sweden is scheduled to visit Hanoi for digging further cooperation chances in public transport and smart city, briefed the ambassador.
Sweden's Singapore ambassador Hakan Jevrell shared the view with his counterpart to Vietnam, said Swedish firms now are proactive in finding chances in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Head of SCCS said that Vietnam is ranked in top five leading destinations among ASEAN for Swedish firms.
Also at the reception, the Swedish firms shared about their plan in South East Asia as well as Vietnam and Hanoi city. They’re all in high hope to receive support from the municipal authority.
For his part, Hanoi vice Mayor Ngo Van Quy showed his delightfulness with goodwill of Swedish business community, saying he believed in cooperation between Hanoi and Swedish firms to flourish as expected after this trip. He affirmed that the cooperative potential of Hanoi, Vietnam’s political and administrative flagship and Sweden remains open.
“Hanoi encourages Swedish enterprises to join selective projects with high surplus value and modern environment-friendly technology”, Quy said. He also mentioned some potential cooperation areas of technology, smart city, infrastructure, high-quality human resource training. Hanoi authority, according to the city official, will direct related institutions to facilitate Swedish firms’ operation.
