Humane treatment toward fishermen in distress is part of the implementation of an agreement signed in 2002 between ASEAN and China.
This is the second time in less than two months that Vietnamese fishermen were attacked by Chinese vessels.
The three-and-a-half-month ban totally goes against international law, including UNCLOS.
Manila said they appreciated Vietnam’s humanitarian act of directly saving the lives of Filipino fishermen.
