Cash payments from Belgian emergency aid have been handed over to vulnerable smallholder farming households impacted by floods and typhoons in Quang Tri and Quang Binh.
Vietnam lost 235 lives and US$739 million in the floods occurred in October.
USAID’s partners, including the Vietnam Red Cross Society, are addressing the immediate needs of the affected families for food, shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene.
The storm is expected to make landfall in Vietnam’s central provinces this weekend.
Since October 16, 2020, as consequences of tropical depressions, torrential downpour has returned and overlapping floods have resulted in heavy losses to human lives and production in the area.
Since early August, heavy rains in the north and the south of Vietnam have caused a great deal of damage.
