Completion of the Metro No. 1 project is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023, after 12 years of construction.

The public transport system in Hanoi has been upgraded, meeting the travel demand of locals.

The machine was manufactured by German firm Herrenkecht based on the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) method.

The line will facilitate commuting from Hanoi's suburbs to downtown, help reduce urban traffic density, improve transport structure and people's travel conditions.

The trial operation of Hanoi’s first metro line has to be carried out by Chinese experts who have not come back from the Lunar New Year holiday.

If all goes well, the metro line should begin commercial operation by the end of next month, according to Hanoi's mayor.

The project has experienced several delays, the latest one was attributed to the fact that the Chinese contractor has not provided certificates and documents for independent foreign experts to peruse and evaluate the system’s security.
