On Sep 30, On August 26 in Hanoi, Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Hanoi has held the 5th congress for the period 2017-2022.

The congress was chaired by the Chairwoman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) Nguyen Lan Huong.
Via reports and discussion, the congress come to some key conclusions. As such, in the last tenures, depsite the difficulties of the global political – economic situation, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam – Japan has progressed significantly, which is more practical and comprehensive.
In this context, based on the previous achievements, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Hanoi had consistenly conducted many measures and achieved positive results. The association also listed out operation guidelines for the next 5-year-period.
At the same time, the Association has frequent meeting with the Japan’s Embassy, the Japanese enterprises in Hanoi, as well as to solidify the cooperation and friendship with Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association. Besides, the Association also pays great attention to charity and social activities. In 2013, the association held photo exhibition named “Nation, Life and Human of Vietnam- Japan”. Once in two years, they host the Festival of Melody for Peace with topic “Vietnam-Japan friendship songs”. In the upcoming time, the Association will focus on improving cooperation with partners in Tokyo and other cities in Japan, gaining the support from Vietnamese people residing in Japan, with a view for the socio-economic development of Hanoi and Vietnam. On the other hand, promotion activities to advertise the image and achievements of Hanoi and Vietnam during the process of global integration is also one of the priority. On the occasion of national day and festival in Vietnam and Japan, especially in 2018 when two nation mark the 45th year of diplomatic relation, the Association will hold numerous events to promote the friendship between two countries. It is aimed to increase the knowledge and cooperation between citizens of two countries, in particular, Vietnamese enterprises are encouraged to update and review economic model in Japan to look for opportunities for cooperation and investment.
In conclusion, during the next tenure, the association will be continuous bridge for cooperation of Hanoi and Japan’s cities in economy, tourism, trade; via attending social and friendship activities held by Hanoi’s Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO). Besides, the association heads to promote Hanoi-Tokyo trade tie via meetings between bilateral enterprises.
The congress witnessed Executive Committee being selected for the period of 2017-2022 with 26 members. Mr Vu Van Vien – Director of Hanoi Transport Department was chosen as President of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in the new tenure of 2017-2022.
Speaking at the meeting, President of HAUFO – Nguyen Lan Huong highly appreciated significant activities of the association during the past time. She also back the operation guidelines proposed for the next tenure. As HAUFO’s President proposed, the association should broaden the network, collaborating with prestigious agencies, individual to tighten the comprehensive partnership with Japan as well as connect Japanese enterprises with Hanoi’s. Besides, the Executive Committee as well as all the member would foster responsibility, unity to actively seek for cooperation chances with Japan in potentials fields, organize delegation to Japan to highlight the Vietnam-Japan partnership. “The association had better broaden the legal fund source mobilizing from society (enterprise, private sector) to ensure the effective operation”, Huong added. Congratulating the new Executive Committee, Huong hopes that they would develop achievement, contributing to enhance People-to-people foreign relations between Hanoi and other cities in the world.
