The overview of “For the Capital’s Traffic Safety 2017” Awarding Ceremony
The Economic and Urban Newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi`s Traffic Safety Committee, the Department of Transport on March 31 held the Awarding Ceremony for the Communication Program of “For the Capital’s Traffic Safety 2017” and launched "For the Capital’s Traffic Safety 2018".
The closing and awarding ceremony for the Communication Program of "For the Capital’s Traffic Safety 2017" has been lively broadcasted on channel 1 of Hanoi Television Station.
This is the 7th consecutive year the competition has been held. The Communication Program of "For the Capitals Traffic Safety 2017" has attracted many people from all walks of the Capital and Provinces nationwide.
Launched in 2011, up to now, the Communication Program of “For the Capital’s Traffic Safety” has received the attention and participation of numerous Capital’s people and provinces’ people across the country as well as foreigners who are working and living in Hanoi.
Thanks to changes made to the structure of the Communication Program over the last few years, the number of contestants has increased dramatically.
Entries submitted came in various forms, including articles, interviews, comments, notes and examples of ensuring traffic safety, as well as photo reports, posters, and paintings, in the form of stories and poems with rhymes and melodies that are easy to read and remember. This was also a new feature in the communication work on raising public awareness of traffic safety and road traffic law, contributing significantly to the improvement of traffic culture and adherence to the law.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen The Hung emphasized that with a deep awareness of the negative impact of traffic accidents and congestion on the socio-economic development of the capital city.
Hung said that the impressive results came from the determination of the entire political system, the efforts of local authorities and people and the message of the "For Traffic Safety in the Capital City" competition, affirming that the event played a major role in influencing the perception of all social classes, especially the younger generations, to raise awareness when participating in traffic for people and building traffic culture in the capital city.
In 2017, the National Traffic Safety Committee has set up the Traffic Safety Program 2017 under the theme "Building a Culture of Communication in Children and Youth" ain the spirit of "Human's Life First".
At the Awards Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the prize for 22 authors who gain Consolation prizes, two authors who gain Second prize and one first prize winner.
The second prize winners include:
1. Writer Nguyen Van Hoc (Nhan Dan Newspaper), with two series: "Traffic safety problem-solving for students" and "Traffic disruption in the suburbs".
2. Journalist Ngoc Hai (Economics & Urban Newspaper) with the series: "Ten years of implementing the regulations on helmet: good quantity, poor quality"
The special prize is dedicated to works that are timely, breakthroughs, are of interest to all, have analyzed and come up with a solution, solved the bottlenecks of urban transport. That is the work "Buses should be the focus of urban traffic" by author Tran Minh Tu - ALMEC Company (Japan).
After the awards, Nguyen Minh Duc, Editor-in-Chief of the Urban & Economic Newspaper, Head of the Competition, launched the "For the Capital’s Traffic Safety 2018" competition.
Also at the event, the organizing board launched the fifth "For Traffic Safety in the Capital City 2017". This year, the National Traffic Safety Committee has developed an action plan titled "Building Traffic Culture among Children and the Youth".
In total, over seven years, the Communication Program received numerous entries with quality models and posters equipped with the most useful knowledge about the provisions and the sense of obeying the traffic law to building traffic culture.
