“Thin Border” – A talk with Musician Nguyen Xuan Son

Nguyen Xuan Son will introduce the compositions and contemporary plays he wrote based on traditional music and talk about the disrupted development of traditional music in the context of globalization in Vietnam.

Nguyen Xuan Son will introduce the compositions and contemporary plays that he wrote using materials from traditional music. In additions, he will be sharing his viewpoint on the disrupted development of traditional music in the context of globalization in Vietnam.
About musician Nguyen Xuan Son
Nguyen Xuan Son studied traditional music and percussion from a very early age under the guidance of the last masters of Vietnam’s traditional arts (Bui Trong Dang, Nguyen Dac Han, Do Tung). He graduated from the University of Theatre & Film in 1990.
About musician Kim Ngoc
A composer, improvisation performer, founder and artistic director of DomDom – the Music and Contemporary Art Center.
About project “Crafting home”:
Nha San Collective conducted the interdisciplinary project CRAFTING HOME under the guidance of artist, old house and antiques collector and restorer Nguyen Manh Duc and artist Nguyen Phuong Linh, under the support of the program the Future is Handmade – Redesigning Crafts | Future Craft – Recover Tradition initiated by Prince Claus Foundation and G-Star Raw.
