To remember the national heros

On occasion of 70 years of War Invalids and Martyrs ‘day (July 27th 1947-July 27th 2017), Hanoi’s Party, Hanoi’s People Council, Hanoi’s National Front Committee along with Hanoi television carried out the art show “National Spirit”.

The show took place at the same time in August Revolution Square, Hoan Kiem district and Truong Son Stick Museum, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi, on the evening of July 22, to honour the heroic martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors.
The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong, alongside Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai and delegates of other departments and ministries.
Throwing back the time, at August Revolution Square, on May 28th 1946, a key meeting on soldier support took place with the attendance of President Ho Chi Minh. Until May 11th 1946, a historic event happened when Uncle Ho took off his coat, pressing the button for the campaign “Solider winter” which to support clothing, accessories for Vietnamese military force in those hard time.  One year later, he released instruction to name the date of July 27th as Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs ‘day.
Peak of the show is documentary series about Vietnam immortal heroes. Among those, Doctor Vu Dinh Tung, a surgeon accidentally carried out the surgery for his son – a Vietnamese Soldier wounded seriously during. The surgery failed. After that, President Ho Chi Minh sent him a historic letter to honor him as a mirror of contribution in war. Another touching story reappeared in the show is about the hero Nguyen Van Troi. The man was unsuccessful in his attempt to kill the former Secretary of Defense McNamara during a 1946 visit to Saigon and be executed. Despite this failure, Nguyen Van Troi’s legacy lives alongside that of other Vietnamese revolutionary heroes, his name etched upon the street signs of a major thoroughfare running through Saigon… Other historic story about 10 girl sacrificed their life to national revolution at Dong Loc crossroad or Dang Thuy Tram with her famous diary in war “Forever 20”… also rock attendant to the soul.  
In addition to touching story narrated by film, art performance with patriotism song, traditional dance in the show attract nearly 1000 people. With art language and honest memory about historic figures, the show “National Spirt” contributes to set the patriotism fire in people, maintain the Vietnamese long-standing code “ When you drink the water, remember the source”.
