Two King’s stone beds in Ninh Binh recognized as national treasure

The 2018 National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival was launched on last weekend in the historical land of Ninh Binh province.

At the opening ceremony of the 2018 National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in Ninh Binh province on October 28, Deputy Minister Vu Duc Dam announced the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s decision to recognize as a national treasure two King’s stone beds in front of the Dinh Tien Hoang Temple.

The first stone bed dates back to the early 17th century and is the only version created by the royal court of the Le – Trinh Dynasty as an offering. The stone bed, which is 127cm wide and 187cm long, weighs about 1.5 tones. In the middle of the bed are carvings of a dragon.
The second stone bed dates three centuries ago, which is 138 cm wide and 188 cm long, weighs about 2 tones. In the middle of the stone bed are also carvings of a dragon.
The 2018 National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in Ninh Binh province was part of events to celebrate the 1,050th anniversary of Dai Co Viet, the first independent nation of Vietnamese people and the first feudal state of Vietnam, founded by King Dinh Bo Linh, a native of Ninh Binh who also chose Hoa Lu to be the capital of the country.
The festival aims to introduce and promote the potential of local tourism development. Many kinds of activities will be held during the 2018 National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, including folk singing performances, photo exhibitions with theme “Through the Land of Heritage” and “Landscape and People of Ninh Binh”, an antique exhibition and the Trang An marathon, etc.
