UK’s Inspire Me Festival among other events to cheer up Hanoi weekend
There are a lot of great events you can enjoy in Hanoi this weekend, and here are the ones we recommend.
Cinema Weekend: “The Deserted Valley” (2001)
In the November edition of Cinema Weekend TPD will host the screening of The Deserted Valley directed by Pham Nhue Giang.
The Deserted Valley tells the story of a school in the mountainous regions – where there are only 3 teachers working and living. They are Mr. Tanh – the principal (Nguyen Hau), Ms. Giao (Hong Anh) and Ms. Minh (Tuyet Hanh). Their teaching routine in the mountainous villages is told through such trivial details: internal and external conflicts, affection, anger, etc.
Released in 2001, The Deserted Valley received wide acclaim. The film was shown in film festivals in China, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, received the FIPRESCI Award at Melbourne International Film Festival, an Award from Vietnam Cinema Association, and the Silver Lotus Award for the 13th Vietnam Film Festival.
