Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Jan Eliasson expressed his impression of the achievements that Vietnam has achieved in 30 years of innovation, at the mean time appreciating Vietnam`s responsible and effective contributions at UN`s forum.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Natural Resources and Environment also attended the talks.
At the talks, Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson affirmed that United Nations always keeps track of the situation and developments in the East Sea. Eliasson called on relevant parties to exercise self-restraint, settle international disputes peacefully based on international law and need to accelerate the conclusion of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
Deputy PM, FM Minh highly valued the United Nations’ cooperation and support for Viet Nam for the past years. Viet Nam will continue promoting its responsible role as well as active contributions to the common efforts of the international community for a world of peace and sustainable development, said Deputy PM, FM Minh.
During the talks, both sides also discussed on the current major priorities of the international community and the United Nations. Viet Nam and the United Nations agreed to foster the implementation of the two historic agreements, namely the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Deputy PM, FM Minh took the occasion to extend thanks to the international community’s assistance for Viet Nam to cope with impacts of severe droughts in the Central Highlands Region and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta-the country’s rice granary.
Deputy Secretary-General Eliasson showed his impression of Viet Nam’s achievements gained over the past three decades of renovation. He also spoke highly of Viet Nam’s responsible and effective contributions at the United Nations’ forums, including the Human Rights Council and the Economic and Social Council as a member.
Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the cooperation and support of the United Nations effectively Vietnam for many years; he said that Vietnam will continue to develop its role as responsible members of the international community and the United Nations, to contribute actively to the joint efforts for world peace and sustainable development.
Ending talks, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation Vietnam-UN to bring in-depth relationship.
