Vietnam finds 35th coronavirus infected case

The latest case was infected from two British visitors who took Vietnam Airlines' London-Hanoi flight.

The number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Vietnam has reached 35 as of March 11 afternoon when a Vietnamese girl in the central city of Danang was confirmed positive with the virus.

The 29-year-old girl, who works for a Dien May Xanh home appliance store, made contact with two British visitors on March 4 when they came to the store to buy SIM cards.

 Infections in Vietnam rise quickly from March 6 onward

The two Britons were found positive with the virus on March 8.

They took Vietnam Airlines flight VN0054 that arrived in Noi Bai International Airport on March 2, the same as Vietnam's 17th infected case. So far, 16 infected cases are related to people taking that flight.

The infections in Vietnam were reported in two periods with 16 first cases found between January 23 and February 13. All the 16 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

The newly-infected cases have been found since March 6. They include 11 foreigners, of whom nine are British, one Irish and one Mexican. Those foreign visitors are under the treatment in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Quang Nam.

As of March 11, nine localities in Vietnam have infected cases, namely Hanoi (4), the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc (11), Ninh Binh (1), Lao Cai (2), and Quang Ninh (4), the central provinces of Thanh Hoa (1), Binh Thuan (1), Khanh Hoa (1), and Quang Nam (2), the central city of Danang (5), and Ho Chi Minh City (3).
