US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius released fish on February 11 into the West Lake in Hanoi on the occasion of the Kitchen God Day (23rd Lunar December).

Vietnamese observe this traditional day by releasing carp into lakes or rivers as they believe the fish will carry Kitchen Gods to Heaven with a report on the outgoing lunar year as well as their best wishes for the upcoming lunar New Year festival (Tet).
