The program is expected to feature around 300 artists, actors, and students of 12 ethnic groups from 11 localities across the country.
A typical rural market at Dong Van karst plateau will be recreated at the event, introducing visitors to indigenous specialties, folk games, and dances of the ethnic minorities groups in the northern province of Ha Giang.
A total of 60 photos depicting the life, natural landscapes and people of Ha Giang will be displayed at the event.
Notably, a traditional boat race from Phu Tho province will be featured for the first time at the village as part of the program. The boat race aims to honor the country’s sportsmanship, and show their gratitude to their national ancestors.
Long-standing cultural practices of the ancestral land of Phu Tho will also be introduced to visitors at the village through a display of 100 pictures.
The organizing board will also present one of the largest festivals of the Dao ethnic group in Ba Vi district, Hanoi, which is observed annually on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month. The ritual aims to worship the departed and pay tribute to ancestors.
Documentary films will also screen for visitors, providing them with vivid historical documents on the country’s history, thus nurturing patriotism and national pride among them.
The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism was inaugurated in October 2010, coinciding with the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. The village is an excellent place to learn about Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.
Located 40km west of Hanoi and covering more than 1,500 hectares, the village is divided into 7 zones including the ethnic village zone which recreates the houses and living areas of different ethnic groups. In each zone, indigenous people introduce visitors to aspects of their culture.
