THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam is reaffirming its commitment to building a greener, smarter, and more globally connected industrial future as it navigates rapid industrialization and the global green transition.
At the ongoing Vietnam Industry 2025 exhibition, held at the National Exhibition Construction Center in Hanoi, experts highlighted the country's strategic shift toward sustainable and intelligent industrial development.
Speaking at the event, Chu Viet Cuong, Director of the Industrial Development Center (IDC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stressed the critical role of the refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry in driving decarbonization efforts.
“The exhibition is a major opportunity to turn our commitments into action,” Cuong said, pointing to HVAC technologies as key enablers of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in the industrial sector.

"From the US$10-billion seafood exports to vaccine preservation and precision electronics, cooling technologies are proven to be the backbone of multiple sectors. These technologies account for 20%-30% of national electricity consumption, making innovation in energy efficiency vital to achieve Vietnam's net-zero goal by 2050," said Cuong.
In addition, the refrigeration and air conditioning industry is a core element in realizing the concepts of "green homes" and "green cities." Specifically, this industry faces a major challenge in energy consumption, accounting for about 20-30% of total electricity consumption and significantly impacts climate change.
Therefore, the director called on businesses to continuously improve technologies, minimize environmental impacts, and comply with energy efficiency regulations.
Cao Phan Tuan, Senior Manager of Marketing Department of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Bac Ninh and VSIP Lang Son, said that Vietnam's industrial sector is shifting towards advanced technologies and sustainability, with green manufacturing, semiconductors, and data infrastructure emerging as new growth pillars.

The international exhibition features specialized pavilions, including a Data Center Zone, a Semiconductor Zone, and a Cleanroom Showcase, offering visitors direct access to cutting-edge solutions. The HVAC & Cleanroom Zone alone occupied 50% of the exhibition space, indicating the demand for sustainable cooling, indoor air quality management and energy-optimized systems.
"The Viet Industry 2025 expo has a very practical meaning in helping businesses access new technologies, find partners, expand markets and contribute to improving the competitiveness of the industry," Tuan told The Hanoi Times.
According to Hoang Quang Phong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), such platforms provide critical momentum for the country's industrial upgrade.
“This event enables enterprises to connect with global partners, access frontier technologies, and strengthen their competitiveness as Vietnam pursues greener, more self-reliant and technology-intensive development,” said Phong.

"Spotlighting advanced technological solutions across core industrial sectors, the expo reflects the trend towards modernized production, promoting domestic production localization and enhancing supply chain linkages," Nguyen Nhu Viet of Seiki Innovations Vietnam Co., Ltd shared with The Hanoi Times.
Themed "Joining hands to develop a self-reliant and powerful industry," the international expo spotlights advanced technological solutions across core industrial sectors, including industrial building materials, electrical and energy systems, industrial automation, metalworking and welding, and pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.
Notably, it runs concurrently with two international specialized exhibitions on cleanroom solutions and materials, as well as on refrigeration, air conditioning, air filtration, ventilation, and dust control technologies.

"The three exhibitions form an integrated industrial ecosystem aimed at strengthening synergies between three pivotal sectors of supporting industries, high technology, and technical infrastructure. These are seen as vital pillars for boosting modernization and manufacturing capacity in Vietnam," Dr. Ta Quang Ngoc, former Chairman of the Vietnam Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Science and Technology Association, told The Hanoi Times.
"Vietnam is at a pivotal moment on its industrial journey. The exhibitions provide comprehensive solutions for factories and manufacturing facilities, but also build bridges for enterprises to integrate more deeply into global value chains," said Ngoc.
