Hanoi hosts national fair to boost consumption for fruit, OCOP products

Hanoi is hosting a week-long fair to showcase fruits, seasonal farm produce, regional specialties, and OCOP products, aiming to boost domestic consumption and support provincial enterprises.

THE HANOI TIMES — A week-long fair promoting fruits, seasonal farm produce, regional specialties and One Commune One Product (OCOP) products is underway at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, Hanoi's Tay Ho Ward.

Running through September 15, the fair brings together 70 booths representing 50 enterprises and cooperatives from Hanoi and 15 other localities, including Tuyen Quang, Hung Yen, Son La, Quang Ninh, Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces.

Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said the event creates opportunities for provinces and cities to showcase and connect their agricultural products with consumers.

“This will support enterprises and cooperatives in strengthen their presence in the domestic market, stimulate consumption and contribute to the campaign ‘Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods’,” he said.

"The event enables consumers to freely try specialties that meet the standards of original traceability and quality, learn how to identify authentic products and get connected to the businesses."

Participating localities and businesses at the fair also joined both traditional commerce and e-commerce channels for agricultural goods, fruits and OCOP products.

Participating in the fair, Nguyen Hong Nam, Director of Dak Lak Durian Cooperative, said that the fair allows them to bring durians directly to local consumers.

He hoped that the authorities of Hanoi will host similar events more often to boost the domestic market.

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the city has hosted numerous activities to support regional producers in recent years.

Those events have strengthened Hanoi's trade networking with localities like Cantho, Dak Lak, Bac Ninh, Dien Bien and Son La and introduced seasonal and OCOP goods with high quality to Hanoi consumers.

More than 11 million consumers in Hanoi have gained access to the specialties and OCOP products supplied by other provinces and cities. They prefer specialty goods with clear origins, trusted brands, geographical indications and high quality, even if priced above regular products.
