Vietnam actively contributes to maintain the world peace

On Nov 23, the Hanoi People`s Committee held a party with the presence of international delegation attending the Executive Committee of World Peace Council Conference


Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee and Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy attended at the event.
On the Hanoi side, there are presences of Mr. Le Hong Son, member of Standing Committee of City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee; Mr. Can Viet Anh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Dao Thanh Huong, Honorary Chairwoman of Hanoi Peace Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thanh, Chairwoman of Hanoi Peace Committee.

Mr. Le Hong Son - Member of Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee affirmed that, as a founding member of the World Peace Council, Vietnam always actively supports peace movement in developing countries. Vietnam has made remarkable practical contributions such as obtaining signatures in support of the 1951 Stockholm Declaration on stopping the Nuclear Arms Race, calling for stopping the Korean War (1950 - 1953) and unification of the two regions.
For Vietnam, since its foundation, the Council has always considered supporting Vietnam as one of the leading programs of action, especially in the struggles for national independence, the formation of the solidarity people's front and support for Vietnam, making great contribution to bringing the national liberation revolution in Vietnam to victory.
On behalf of the Hanoi People's Government and People's Committee, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his expectation and confidence that the relationship between Vietnam and the World Peace Council will be maintained.
Thanks to the welcome and friendship of Vietnam for the delegation, Mrs. Ilda Figuereido, member of the Executive Board of the World Peace Council, Chairman of the Council for Peace and Co-operation in Portugal affirmed that Vietnam is typical for heroic struggle for national liberation which is evidenced through two long-term resistance period and is a model for countries around the world to follow.
"The World Peace Council highly appreciates and believes that Vietnam will continue to make contributions to the peace movement of the world in general and to the Council in particular," said Mrs. Ilda Figuereido.
The World Peace Council is the governing agency of the world peace movement, established at the World Peace Defendence Congress in Paris (France) and Praha (Czechoslovakia) in April 1949 which including representatives of political parties, committees, peacekeeping organizations of 135 countries. In particular, Vietnam is considered a founding member of the Council with 11 delegates participating in the Congress.
