In the three years from 2018 to 2020, Luke Nguyen will take an important role in improving the quality of in-flight meals for Vietnam Airlines. The “culinary magician” will create 8 new dishes featuring the regions of Vietnam (North, Central, South, and Hue) for Business Class.
The dishes will be designed, processed, and presented with authentic Vietnamese flavors in harmonious combination with refreshments and side dishes. Luke Nguyen will also provide further advice for the current 50 menus on Business Class on several of the airline's routes in 2018.
Additionally, Luke Nguyen, in cooperation with Vietnam Airlines, will be promoting Vietnamese cuisine to the world through large-scale cultural and trade events regularly in many other countries.
Speaking at the appointment ceremony, the Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, Le Hong Ha, stressed that as the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines always keeps in mind that they should promote the cultural values of Vietnam around the world. Through this special partnership, Vietnam Airlines and Luke Nguyen wish to exalt Vietnamese cuisine into a glorious art. Culinary art is not only a pride of Vietnamese culture, but also the first cultural touch to welcome foreign passengers to Vietnam.
“We hope passengers will have more exciting and complete experiences on the flights of Vietnam Airlines in the near future,” said Le Hong Ha.
On his side, Chef Luke Nguyen, now Global Cuisine Ambassador of Vietnam Airlines, believes that food is a cultural heritage that is both familiar and diverse, reflecting the soul, character, and value of each nation.
Nguyen hopes to bring dishes that are imbued with Vietnamese national identity and consistent with the rich taste of tourists from various continents on Vietnam Airlines’ flights. With the new exciting and challenging role, more than just an aspect of culinary arts, Nguyen thanked Vietnam Airlines for giving him the opportunity to further deepen his connection with his hometown.
The introduction of a Vietnamese chef as Vietnam Airlines’ first Global Cuisine Ambassador is part of the strategy to improve service quality and customer experience. High standards, attentive care, and dedicated attitude turning the flight into a moment of real pleasure has helped Vietnam Airlines to maintain its Skytrax 4-star rating for 2 consecutive years and to receive the honorable “World’s Leading Cultural Airline” title at the 2017 World Travel Awards. Positioning itself as a dynamic, creative, and modern airline brand permeated by Vietnam's rich culture and national identity on its international 4-star standards, Vietnam Airlines is on the road to become a 5-star airline in the future.
