The minister’s meeting, which took place in Sydney, coincides with the official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Australia.
At the working session, the minister praised the contribution of Telstra to telecom development in Vietnam, noting that it was one of the first international telecommunications companies to enter Vietnam following the country's reunification in 1975.
He expressed his hope that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the fields of telecommunication and the privatisation of telecom services in Vietnam .
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation and investment in their information technology businesses.
In Vietnam, Teltra and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) reached a cooperation agreement to use the international telecommunication network in the late 1980s with the initial investment of 1 million USD.
