Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security General To Lam and his Chinese counterpart Zhao Kezhi today [February 19] signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation measures to boost home security in each country.

The move was announced at the 7th annual conference on Anti-Crime Cooperation between the two ministries of Public Security in Hanoi, aiming to boost comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China in protecting national security and maintaining public order.
At the conference, two ministers also stressed the importance of ensuring greater efficiency in bilateral cooperation in crime prevention and fight, focusing on suppressing trans-border crimes, such as terrorism, cybercrimes, human trafficking, drug-related offenses, and illegal immigration.
The two ministries have been actively coordinating in the combat against different types of crimes since 2018, especially those related to drug, economic and cyber-crimes.
Both Vietnam and China’s police had launched four campaigns against drug-related crimes over the past two years, while perfecting cooperation mechanism between the two sides.
Amid rampant cybercrimes in two countries, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has been supporting its counterpart in investigating offenses involving Chinese nationals in Vietnam and handed over to Chinese police.
Law enforcers in the two countries have also successfully resolved the trafficking of Vietnamese women and girls to China.
The two ministries have agreed to hold the 8th conference in China in 2022.
