As a low medium-income country which needs additional resource for sustainable poverty reduction, response to climate change, fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as well as commitments within the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21), the Deputy PM proposed the EU assist Viet Nam in accessing the World Bank’s International Development Assistance (IDA) with a commitment to gradual access reduction that suits Viet Nam’s conditions.

On the East Sea issue, both sides underscored the need to maintain peace, stability, and maritime and overflight freedom, safety and security in the East Sea, settle disputes by peaceful means in line with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, seriously and fully realise the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, towards the early formulation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
