He expected Japanese businesses to take the lead in developing these priority fields in Vietnam, in turn helping Vietnam to increase the localization rate in industrial production.

Phuc made this statement in a meeting with leading Japanese corporations, including Japanese leading lender MUFG Bank and Mitsubishi on October 10 in Tokyo.

The PM expected MUFG Bank to play a critical role in facilitating the capital inflow from Japan to Vietnam, while supporting Vietnam in implementing the development strategy of the banking sector.

Kanetsugu Mike, CEO of MUFG Bank, said the Japanese bank is committed to contributing to the development of Vietnam and the relation between the two countries.

In a meeting with Takehiro Kakeuchi, President and CEO of Mitsubishi, Phuc suggested Mitsubishi investing in large-scale projects in Vietnam, such as smart city projects and building Lien Chieu port in Da Nang city. The PM hoped that Misubishi would help bring Vietnamese tea and coffee to the world market.

Kakeuchi stressed Vietnam is one of the company's priorities, while the company will take the PM's suggestion into consideration.

According to Phuc, Vietnam's government will continue pushing forward with the economic restructuring process, focusing on reducing administrative procedures and creating the most favorable conditions for enterprises to thrive.

The government will also address issues to ensure a win-win for Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises doing business in the country, the PM stated.

Meanwhile, Japanese enterprises expressed interest in investing in fields of distribution, infrastructure connectivity, high tech agriculture, establishing database center and innovation-driven sectors, among others in Vietnam.
