The elections` success reflect Cambodian trust to their country`s future, said Vietnam`s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Vietnam congratulates Cambodia on the success of the general elections, said the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang at a regular press briefing today.
“The elections were carried out in a smooth, free and democratic manner with a high rate of turnout, demonstrating voters' trust in the country’s future”, Hang noted.
Given the success, Vietnam firmly believes that under the newly-elected leadership, Cambodia would obtain more achievements in building a stable, peaceful and prosperous country.
“We also strongly believe our good neighborhood, and stable, sustainable cooperation with Cambodia will continue to be promoted for the practical benefits of the two nations’ people”, said Hang.
Statistics released by the Cambodian National Election Committee on July 30 shows that 82.89% of voters attended the general elections on July 29. According to preliminary results, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) takes the lead, winning 4,875,189 votes, equivalent to 76,78% of the total valid votes.
The official result of the general elections of the sixth mandate of Cambodia's National Assembly would be announced on August 15.
