The programme aims to promote the start-up ecosystem and creative start-ups, and provide scholarships for young people with the “Smart Cities” training course in Israel, according to Nguyen Thi Thu Van, VYF Vice President.
The course focuses on start-up initiatives and IT application in the development of smart cities, Van added.
Three excellent candidates will receive a full scholarship of VND130 million (US$5,720) each to attend the course from July 25 to August 28. The deadline period for submission of applications is from May 22 - 29, 2018 at Thanh Giong Community Portal at 64 Ba Trieu Street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
Earlier, the 6th Vietnam Startup Wheel in 2018 was launched on May 15 nationwide for all individuals, groups and startup business founders residing in Vietnam regardless of their age.
The contestants can submit their startup ideas, products, services or technologies to the contest from now to the end of May, according to the organising board.
The final and awards ceremony will be held in August in 2018.
With the expansion of participants to all ages and all those residing in Vietnam instead of from 18 - 35 years old and Vietnamese citizens as previous, the contest aims to create an international environment for studying with the involvement of startups from all countries, thus helping domestic startups challenge themselves with competition from domestic and foreign rivals, Truong Ly Hoang Phi, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Startup Support Centre was quoted as saying.
In the past, the annual contest has been the largest playground for Vietnam’s startup community, while helping them conquer important targets in their development strategy, introduce their products to investors and commercialise their products, Phi added.
The contest aims to connect the startup ecosystem in the country, nurture startups and encourage the support of partners for young enterprises.
Founded by Ho Chi Minh City Business Startup Support Centre and Young Businesspeople Association under the Vietnam Youth Federation of Ho Chi Minh City, Startup Wheel was first launched in 2013 and has become one of the biggest events for the startup community.
In 2017, the contest drew more than 30,000 participants with 767 ideas and projects.
