Vietnam - Japan friendship photo contest lures over 1,000 submissions
A photo exhibition with theme “Vietnamese and Japanese youths joining hands in fostering friendship” officially opened in Hanoi on October 31.
With the theme “Vietnamese and Japanese youths joining hands in fostering friendship”, the exhibition is showcasing more than 57 best photographs chosen from over 1,000 entries to a photo contest launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee.
The contest was launched in July 2018 and part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973). The contest aims to improve young people’s understanding of the bilateral ties as well as friendship between the two people, helping Japanese people and the youth in particular gain a deeper insight into Vietnam’s land and people in the integration process.
Photos capture the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, diplomatic activities, cultural exchanges and economic and political events taking place in both countries, beautiful images of the land, people, customs, and the special cultural characteristics, national construction and socio-economic achievements of the two nations.
Accordingly, the organizing board attracted more than 1,000 entries submitted by photographers from 126 countries and territories, just two months after launch.
On this occasion, the organizing board of the photo contest with theme “Vietnamese and Japanese youths joining hands in fostering friendship” presented one first, two second, five third and five consolidation prizes with a total value of VND90 million (US$3,870). Accordingly, 14 outstanding photos were awarded.
The photo “Joy in the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Bridge” by Nguyen Viet Cuong (Hanoi) won the first prize; the two second prizes belong to Nguyen Kim Long and Ho Nhu Y.
