Vietnam launches “Ready to Work” vocational training project for 2,000 disadvantaged youngsters

Through its “Ready to Work” vocational training project, Standard Chartered Vietnam aims to equip 2,000 disadvantaged youths, women, and people with disabilities with job-ready skills, improving their access to decent employment and supporting Vietnam’s inclusive, sustainable growth.

THE HANOI TIMES — The “Ready to Work” project will provide training programs lasting 3-6 months for 2,000 disadvantaged young people aged 18-35, including 5% with disabilities and 70% women, to help them develop essential skills, enhance their employability and increase their access to decent job opportunities.

Funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation and implemented by Plan International Vietnam from July 2025 to December 2027, the project kicked off on October 22 in Hanoi.

Training courses will cover areas such as graphic design, beauty care, tourism, culinary arts, sales, baking, beverage and service, skincare and industrial sewing.

In addition to vocational training, the project emphasizes soft skills development and business connections to create internship and employment opportunities for young people.

The initiative is part of Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global program supporting disadvantaged youth with vocational training, skills development and access to sustainable employment.

Futuremakers also empowers thousands of women and people with disabilities, helping them find decent work and contribute to inclusive economic growth across Asia.

In Vietnam, the project is jointly implemented by Plan International Vietnam, the Hanoi Industrial Vocational College and the Bac Thang Long Economic and Technical College.

Trinh Nhu Quynh, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Vietnam, said: “Following the success of the ‘Ready to Work’ project since 2022, we are delighted to continue our collaboration with Plan International Vietnam."

"This program has provided vocational training for thousands of disadvantaged youths, helping them overcome economic and social barriers and contribute meaningfully to their communities,” she said.

Le Quynh Lan, Country Director of Plan International Vietnam, said: “We believe that the success of the project, especially among young female participants, reaffirms Plan International Vietnam's commitment to supporting two million girls, young women and the youth in exercising their rights, creating a green and sustainable future, in line with the organization's strategy until 2027.”
