Vietnam Museum of Ethnology cited among Asia’s top 25 attractive museums

The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (VME) has been named as one of the best museums in Asia, announced by TripAdvisor.

The museum  ranks fourth in the list, up from sixth place in 2013 and 2014 is the third year in a row that the museum has won TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice award, according to Museum Director Vo Quang Trong.

TripAdvisor features the VME as the place to explore the ethnic groups that make up Vietnam, featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibitions with reproductions of the homes of different groups.
In addition to Vietnamese culture, the VME also reserves a special area to introduce the cultures and lifestyles of other Southeast Asian countries to help visitors explore the similarities and differences between the culture of Vietnam and those of other countries in the region.

The museum greeted over 283,000 visitors during the first nine months of this year, one third of which were foreign travellers.
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology opened to the public for the first time in November 1997.
It is famous for its collections on the historical and cultural features of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, as well as the cultures of other ASEAN member states.
