The Ministry of Science and Technology is encouraged to adopt policies to encourage businesses to join science and technology activities.
Vietnam needs to raise awareness on science and technology in 2019 so as to channel appropriate investment, financial resources and policies to clear up the difficulties in financing scientific research.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement at a conference to carry out the sector's tasks for 2019 in Hanoi on January 21.
The deputy PM asked the Ministry of Science and Technology to adopt policies to encourage businesses to join science and technology activities, especially in allocating funds for research in a transparent manner for enterprises and individuals.
Dam also suggested the ministry link research units of private enterprises with the state’s research facilities in universities, so that together they conduct research programs on science and technology.
The ministry needs to conduct national product development programs and technological innovations. So far, there has been no policy to encourage and support Vietnamese private research outcome to reach the domestic and world markets, Dam added.
He stressed that the Ministry of Science and Technology needs to strengthen dialogue with enterprises and business associations to remove difficulties and obstacles.
Referring to Vietnam's digitalization and digital mapping scheme, Dam noted that this is an important task that Departments of Science and Technology should actively join in in the time ahead. This will be the database to apply smart city, smart tourism, smart agriculture in providing socio-economic, cultural, entertainment services for its residents, said the deputy PM.
