Vietnam has largest number of air travelers in Southeast Asia

Vietnam’s aviation sector carried some 6.2 million guests in May, second only to Indonesia in Southeast Asia, according to market researcher Out Box Company. The country accounted for 17% of the region's total capacity, with an average increase of 4% per day. The busiest domestic route in Southeast Asia was between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with 908,300 passengers.

Government requests to build an international financial center

The Vietnamese Government has asked relevant ministries and local authorities to take urgent measures to build a regional and international financial center. Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has asked for opinions to be collected and a steering committee to be set up to build the center following regulations and practical requirements.

First Vietnamese gymnast to participate in world tournament

Vietnamese gymnast Van Vi Luong has qualified for the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships after finishing second in the all-around competition at the ongoing Asian Championships in Singapore. The World Championships results will determine his qualification for the Olympic Games. The World Championships will be held in September-October.

The Haiphong-Japan Investment Promotion Conference 2023 witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Deep C Industrial Park and two Japanese investors, TBM and IHI, on June 15. This is one of the practical activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan

The conference attracted more than 150 business and government delegates from Japan, focusing on key areas such as the production of electrical and electronic products, rubber, plastics, and chemicals.

British University Vietnam starts phase 2 construction

On June 15, British University Vietnam started the second phase of its master development plan worth US$165 million. The upcoming project is scheduled to be completed in 2025 and will provide an environment for a total of 5,000 students.

According to President Raymond Gordon, the construction proves the university's commitment to Vietnam's education and training sector. The school expects all three phases to be completed in 2028.

Vietnam attends Inter-Parliamentary Union conference

During the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, entitled Working Together for Our Common Future in Marrakech, Morocco, from 13-15 June, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Don Tuan Phong, proposed that parliaments and religions expand and strengthen cooperation mechanisms, dialogue and information sharing to enhance mutual understanding, build trust and respect, and seek peaceful solutions to conflicts and global challenges. The delegation also invited parliamentarians to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to be hosted by Vietnam in September.

1.5 million computers in Vietnam at risk of virus attack

Cybersecurity firm Bkav's statistics estimated 1.5 million computers owned by large Vietnamese companies and individuals are at risk from a new virus attack called SPECTRALVIPER. According to Bkav's statistics, for every 10 computers, one has an SMB (Server Message Block) vulnerability and is at risk of being infected with SPECTRALVIPER, which allows hackers to send malicious code and access and steal data.
