Ho Chi Minh City mulls building Vietnam’s first green terminal
Ho Chi Minh City's Can Gio Port will be Vietnam's first green terminal. The port, which covers an area of about 571 hectares, will use clean, environmentally friendly fuel and energy for all its machinery.
The terminal will be able to accommodate ships of up to 250,000 tons, create about 8,000 jobs, and contribute VND34-40 trillion (US$1.4-1.7 billion) to the state budget in the first year of operation. Construction is expected to be completed in 2045.
Annual marathon race opens in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province

The 24th Ba Ria-Vung Tau Newspaper Marathon kicked off on August 26 in Vung Tau City, drawing some 3,000 runners to compete in four categories of 21km, 10km, 5km and 3km distances, including some 1,000 government officials and entrepreneurs and 32 representatives from nationwide media outlets.
The total prize money for the race has increased by 40% from last year to VND300 million (U$12,500), making it one of the most valuable marathon races in Vietnam.
Folk songs performed in praise of Vietnamese mothers
A traditional art performance was held on the night of August 25 to honor the love of Vietnamese mothers and the motherland. Hosted by Xam Ha Thanh, a traditional folk performance group in Hanoi, the show featured many folk songs that tell the stories of Vietnam from ancient times and pay tribute to mothers.
The show was held at the Vua Le (King Le) statue at 16 Le Thai To Street, kicking off a series of monthly shows by Xam Ha Thanh to introduce local folk culture to Vietnamese and international audiences.
"Amazing Vietnam" photo contest ends with 175 best entries honored
About 175 best photos of the "Amazing Vietnam" contest were displayed at a photo exhibition on August 25. The photos show the beauty of Vietnam in terms of people and landscapes, motivate photographers to further improve their skills, and promote Vietnamese tourism internationally.
The competition was launched on December 21. After six months, more than 13,200 entries were submitted, of which 11 best were selected.
Vung Tau, Nha Trang among the best beaches on social networks
The beaches of Vung Tau and Nha Trang are among the 10 best beaches on TikTok and Instagram, according to the Australian travel website Escape. The two Vietnamese beaches rank third and fourth on the list, behind Sydney's Bondi Beach and Bangkok's Pattaya Beach.
Other beaches in the top 10 include those in Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Mexico.
Japan is Vietnamese people's dream country to work
Japan is the dream destination for Vietnamese interns and workers, according to a conference on August 25. Japan currently hosts about 200,000 interns and 345,000 workers of Vietnamese nationality, making them the most populous foreign community in the country.
The number of Vietnamese interns in Japan has increased from 10,000 in 2013 to 82,700 in 2019. In addition, about 80,000 Vietnamese workers and 65,000 technicians are working under long-term contracts with Japanese companies.
Vietnam, Korea pledge to develop textile industry
The Korea Federation of Textile Industries (Kofoti) and the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote partnership between Vietnam and South Korea in the sector.
The MoU is expected to facilitate the two countries' textile industries to achieve sustainable growth, digital transformation, and supply chain diversification.
