Vietnam’s trio sites among Asia’s top 10 summer getaways

Sa Pa, Ba Na Hills, and Dalat are among Asia's top 10 Summer getaways, according to Channel News Asia. These sites are said to have temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius, even in the hottest months of the year, making them perfect escape places for tourists in the Summer. Sa Pa is known for its wealth of local cultural features, Dalat is famous for its French architecture and urban design, and Ba Na Hills are known for their wide range of entertainment services.
Young Vietnamese spend an average of U$1,261 per trip
According to a 2023 study on tourism trends conducted by Klook, an e-commerce platform for travel and experiences, Vietnamese tourists aged 20 to 40 spend an average of VND30 million (US$1,261) on a trip, which is double their monthly salary. The study surveyed nearly 4,000 people in 12 countries over the past six months, with a particular focus on the Gen Z and Millennial groups. The results revealed that the travel spending of these two groups of tourists is expected to increase in the second half of 2023.
Nearly $33.6 million in non-profit funding for Vietnamese scientists
Over the course of five years, the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VINIF) has provided substantial support to nearly 2,500 Vietnamese scientists, amounting to nearly VND800 billion ($33.6 million). During this period, VINIF has sponsored more than 100 projects in the fields of science, technology, culture, and history, as well as granted 1,200 scholarships.
As a result of VINIF's support, numerous achievements have been accomplished, including the creation of thousands of works published in prestigious international journals. Additionally, the foundation has contributed to the development of nearly 400 products, with over 70 inventions and patents to its credit. VINIF's efforts have also led to the establishment of nearly 20 start-ups and spin-offs, focusing on the commercialization of intellectual property rights.
Vietnam eyes stronger bilateral ties with Egypt
Vietnam hopes to discuss and finalize trade agreements with Egypt in the near future, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said on July 26. He emphasized that the Vietnamese Government consistently values and actively seeks further cooperation with Egypt across all sectors. The Deputy Prime Minister urged both countries to open their domestic markets to bolster bilateral trade, enhance collaboration in the production and trade of halal products, and facilitate favorable conditions for private investors.
Vietnam to prepare workers for Greek demand
On July 26, the Department of Overseas Labor approved three companies to send 150 Vietnamese workers to Greece for two-year employment in the agricultural sector. These workers will receive a basic monthly salary of 803 euros (US$892.7). As part of the agreement, the three companies are required to organize a free English training course for the workers, which will include tuition and accommodation. The training is scheduled to last until September 2023.
Greece is experiencing a shortage of workers in various industries, including agriculture, fishing, construction, garment, hospitality, and domestic services. In this context, many Asians, including Vietnamese workers, have come to work in Greece for an average monthly wage ranging from 700 to 800 euros (US$778-889).

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a regulation on the management and temporary use of streets and sidewalks, which will be effective from September 1. Organizations and individuals who are granted the right to temporarily use roads and sidewalks must pay fees according to the regulations. Additionally, they are required to ensure traffic order and safety in accordance with the plan approved by the management agency.
